I just got back from Handmade Parade :) It was so fun! I had a blast, and I made a few new things that I haven't done before, and they did well, so I couldn't be happier!
I think it's especially hard to drive customers to craft shows these days. I just don't think they are what they used to be.... so I look at shows as a networking opportunity, a way to get to know collectors in my community and a way to advertise for my online stuff. And if I happen to make some extra cash in the process, that's great! So HP, turned out to be really fun. I got to see some old friends I hadn't seen in a while, Lauren, and Sarah, meet some online friends, I hadn't met yet, Katie (we need to get her bloggin... but that's her flickr) and Chel, and hang with my little helper (that's her in the orange)! So I couldn't have asked for a better day!
My table display was a little uneven, but I try not to take these things too seriously and just fix them for next time. I got that spinning card display recently, and the girls and I have had so much fun playing with it and putting cards on and off it and playing store. It's a really cool display, and I just need to place it differently. It looks odd there in the middle. Then there's my lil bench of bears and stuffies, and some book covers ($12 ea) on the opposite side. And then in the front... there's lots of mini journals ($4 ea or 2 for $6), and knick knacks.
I made those Halloween journals ($10 ea.) from some vintage comic books that I found really cheap at an antique store, so those were new for me, and I made some notecards out of the inner pages. Also new for me were the little character pillows (Nicole made some similar to these a few years back... with Christmas trees, and stockings and candy canes, and they were best sellers). I had a blast making those, and I sold them for $5 ea. so they sold really well (they are backed with vintage sheets, which makes them even cuter!!!) I did a few on muslin, and few on gingham, because I couldn't decide which was cuter...I only have three left, so that's awesome!
If you see anything you like, that you just might have to have, email me... cause I might have another, or I'll make you one! But, if I don't get back to you right away, it's not becuase I don't want your money, LOLOLOL! It's because I'm in Disneyland!!!! (Well I will be soon anyway!) But I'll be back October 20th!

You are in Sacramento, aren't you? I'm visiting family there for Thanksgiving. Do you have any shops or shows to recommend for that weekend?
